Welcome to Decatur/Wheeler Lake KOA, your go-to retreat for laid-back lakeside vibes and family-friendly fun. Open year-round, our campground is nestled in the heart of North Alabama, surrounded by the serene waters of Wheeler Lake and shady native trees. Located near Decatur, Athens, and just a short drive from Huntsville. in the region, Attractions including the beautiful TVA chain of lakes, Wheeler Wildlife Refuge, and U.S. Space and Rocket Center.

  • Water Sport Rentals include kayaks, Paddle Boards, canoes, pontoon boat (tow toy upgrade available) and jetskis.
  • Electric Rentals include electric bikes & electric scooters.
  • Pavilion Rental for affordable family reunions, wedding ceremony & receptions, company picnics & retreats, club gatherings, birthday parties, or any large gathering you are planning.

                - Includes access to drinking water and electricity, covered seating for 75-100 people, convenient access to restrooms & parking and charcoal grills for cooking needs.
                - Package Deals available to include beach access for all invited guests.

Policies

All Cancellations adhere to the KOA national guidelines, effective 10-01-24.  All cancellations outside the cancellation window will be refunded the reservation minus a $20 cancellation fee.

Cancellation for RV/Tent site: 

Regular Cancellation - The cancellation window is 7 days prior to arrival date.  Outside of this window, a $20 fee applies and we refund the rest.  If you cancel inside this 7 day window, you will forfeit your deposit. 

Holiday Cancellation -  We require a 14 day notice prior to arrival, for a refund of your deposit less a $20 cancellation fee. If you cancel without a 14 day notice, you will lose the full deposit. 

Cancellation for Lodging/Cabins:

Regular Cancellation - The cancellation window is 14 days prior to arrival date.  Outside of this window, a $20 fee applies and we refund the rest.  If you cancel inside this 14 day window, you will forfeit your deposit. 

Holiday Cancellation - We require a 30 day notice prior to arrival, for a refund of your deposit less a $20 cancellation fee. If you cancel without a 30 day notice, you will lose the full deposit. 

Cancellation for Long-term/Monthly:

Monthly Cancellation - Unfortunately, we cannot provide a full refund for a long-term stay, the monthly cancellation fee is $100.  Depending on the time and notice given, a prorated fee may be applied and a refund of the rest may be granted.VIP KOA Rewards Guests:Our VIP KOA Rewards guests will continue to have the cancellation fee waived if the cancellation is in advance of the cancellation window.

Please note - Site Types 

We guarantee a ''site type''. Site numbers are confirmed and assigned at check-in.  Customers who wish to select their site number and are guaranteed the site number must pay an additional fee.
