Stay in the quiet and breathtaking woods of Northern Michigan. Located on the 45th parallel and nestled near the Alpine Village of Gaylord, our Basecamp to the Great Outdoors is the perfect getaway for you and your family or group. Our campground is the source of endless fun and adventure with walking trails, a brand new playground and jump pad, a swimming pool for all, a mini golf course and Gaga ball pit. You can use one of our many banana bikes or 4-wheel pedal carts to get around, whether that's to visit our camp store or to go sluicing in Up North Mining Company, and on your way, you can stop by our KampK9 Park for your four-legged group members to enjoy in the fun too.
The adventure doesn't stop outside the campground. Northern Michigan is home to many great lakes for fishing and water sports, plus trails for hiking and biking from Gaylord to Mackinaw City, such as The Iron Belle Trail and the North Central State Trail. You can also take a day trip to Mackinaw City, home of the Mackinac Bridge and Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse, see the incredible Thunder Bay Underwater Preserve or visit the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum. Our campground is also located in the heart of the Gaylord Golf Mecca, with many golf courses to choose from. Gaylord is home to many great events and festivals year-round, including Alpenfest and the Big Ticket Festival!
After a great day of sightseeing, come back and relax, enjoying your campsite with cable TV available, or you can stay in touch using our free, high-speed Wi-Fi, perfect for working remotely or for school, or streaming your favorite shows and games.
Whether you're staying in one of our big-rig friendly RV sites, tent sites, Cabins, or Deluxe Cabins, your next great adventure is here!
We currently offer the following activities:
Starts: 07/14/2026 - Ends: 07/18/2026
Ever heard of "The Burning of the Boog?" There will be traditions, music, and food you have never heard of before as downtown Gaylord puts on an Alpine-inspired celebration that honors the city's heritage and partnership with sister city, Pontresina, Switzerland. The entertainment is top-notch and includes Rolling Stones and Katy Perry tribute bands, 80's rock, classic rock, country, polka and German music, and to further honor the theme, a 14-piece Bavarian style band. There will also be two parades (a walking parade and a grand parade), carnival rides, Queen and Princess pageants, a car show, a craft show, food vendors...do I need to say more? Oh, there is more! If you like to run or walk, sign up for the half marathon, 10k, 5.9k or 1-mile fun run. Grab your lederhosen (yes, you'll see those there too) and join in the fun!
Starts: 08/14/2026 - Ends: 08/16/2026
Lasso up those kids and join the wagon train headed toward the Gaylord KOA! We are planning a rootin' tootin' good time for y'all. We will be cooking over a campfire, going on a wagon trail ride of our own, and watching an outdoor movie under the stars. There will also be lasso ropin', tin-can shootin' (with water, of course), and pool noodle horse makin'. Spend a fun-filled weekend with us as we bring a Western vibe to Northern Michigan!
