Meteor Shower Calendar 2025-2026

A meteor shower is a celestial event in which a number of meteors are observed to radiate, or originate, from one point in the night sky called Radiant. These meteors are caused by streams of cosmic debris called meteoroids entering Earth's atmosphere at extremely high speeds on parallel trajectories. The Meteor Data Center of the IAU lists over 900 suspected meteor showers of which about 100 are well established.

National 4-H Shooting Sports

National 4-H Shooting Sports
The 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships is held each June in Grand Island, Nebraska, at the Heartland Public Shooting Park. The event is hosted by Nebraska 4-H. 4-H youth from across the country will compete in compound archery, recurve archery, air rifle, air pistol, .22 rifle, .22 pistol, shotgun, muzzleloading, and hunting skills.

Nebraska State 4-H Horse Show

The Fonner Park State 4-H Horse Expo is the pinnacle experience for members of the Nebraska 4-H horse program. The annual event includes the State 4-H Horse Show, State 4-H Horse Judging Contest, and State 4-H Hippology Contest.

Aksarben Stock Show

Today the Aksarben Stock Show is managed and produced by the Nebraska State Fair and is open to youth exhibitors and also features a national livestock judging contest.
The beef, sheep and goat shows are held at the Five Points Bank Arena in the Nebraska Farm Bureau Show Ring. The swine show is held in the Aurora Cooperative Pavilion. Youth from Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming are eligible to show.
The show was established in 1927 by the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben with a mission of "producing an annual youth livestock show celebrating the region's agricultural heritage which educates and benefits families."
The Aksarben Stock Show moved to Grand Island, Nebraska in 2017 celebrating its 90th anniversary. It was previously located in Omaha, Nebraska under the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben and Aksarben Foundation.

Welcome to the Kool-Aid Days Festival

Kool-Aid Days is a celebration of the childhood drink that has been around since 1927. The festival offers a variety of activities, including:
- Downtown Parade: Show off your float in the parade
- Food vendors: Become a food vendor at the main event
- 5K Fun Run: Sign up to run or walk the 5K Fun Run
- Kool-Aid stand: Mix and serve Kool-Aid at the Kool-Aid stand
- Volunteer: There are many volunteer roles available, including directing participants in the 5K Fun Run
Kool-Aid Days also includes Kool-Aid Night at Tri-City Storm Hockey on February 15, 2025. Attendees can purchase Kool-Aid Kollectibles and help the Kool-Aid Man and Stormy cheer on the Tri-City Storm.

Most of the astronomical events on this calendar can be seen with unaided eye, although some may require a good pair of binoculars for best viewing. Many of the events and dates that appear here were obtained from the U.S. Naval Observatory, The Old Farmer's Almanac., and the American Meteor Society. Events on the calendar are organized by date and each is identified with an astronomy icon as outlined below. Please note that all dates and times are given in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) must be converted to your local date and time. American Shorthorn Association Junior National

The Shorthorn breed originated on the Northeastern coast of England in the counties of Northcumberland, Durham, York and Lincoln. The first real development of the breed occurred in the valley of the Tees River about 1600. The large framed cattle that inhabited this fertile valley became known as Teeswater cattle.The breed later spread to Scotland and then to America in 1783. When first brought to Virginia, the breed had attained the name Durham. It was the first improved breed to be imported into the new world and the qualities the animal possessed made it in great demand and its influence spread rapidly across America.
