Wolf Creek Wrangle

Lace up your running shoes and prepare to conquer the Wolf Creek Wrangle! Whether you're a seasoned trail runner or a novice looking for a new challenge, the Wolf Creek Wrangle offers a variety of courses suited to all skill levels. 

The Wolf Creek Wrangle is infamous for its rough and wild single track, bear sightings, and "Jeff Way" distances. The Jeff Way is the hard way, the cowboy way. If there is a rockslide along the course, it will not be removed-you will find a way over it. If there are tree branches and overgrowth on the trail, they will not be trimmed. You will have to run through it or jump over it. Trails are not groomed and purposefully left wild, for the wild runner. Prepare for the unexpected and know that at the end of the race you will have bragging rights for life. And beer. That's right, nurse your wounds and pride with a cold one or two. You will have earned it. Celebrate your success with us after the race with food and music!

100% of event proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns, and their housing efforts in Sheridan County, Wyoming!

Come and join us as we Explore History @ The Hub: The Flyboys of Bomber Mountain. This event will be hosted by The Hub on Smith, a dynamic center of activity here at Sheridan. 

The Flyboys of Bomber Mountain details about B-17 Bomber wreckage found by cowboys in the Bighorn Mountains in the summer of 1945. Join Sylvia Bruner, Executive Director of the Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum in Buffalo, as she tells the story informed by a decade of research of the ten men on board the B-17 Bomber that had taken off two years earlier and never returned.

Explore History is FREE to attend and open to all.

The Bighorn Trail Run is more than just a race – it's a celebration of the human spirit and the wonders of the great outdoors. Bighorn Trail Run was born to increase public awareness of the natural beauty, rugged terrain, and unique geology of the Bighorn Mountains and the Dry Fork and Little Bighorn River drainages. 

Don't miss out this multi-event experience created by a community for a community, meeting everyone's desire for challenge. The courses require ultimate individual preparation. Be sure to be ready for the challenge!

The Mane Event Gravel Grinder

Don't miss your chance to be part of this epic gravel cycling event here at Sheridan and nearby towns! The Mane Event Gravel Grinder offers cyclists of all levels the chance to test their spirit on some of the most challenging and scenic gravel roads in the region. Whether you're a seasoned racer, families seeking an outdoor challenge, or a casual cyclist, there's always something for everyone!

The Mane Event Gravel Grinder offers 3 different courses:

• 25 Mile - Start Time: 10:00AM. This 25-mile course is for beginners, families, and those that want to get out on the gravel and follow the creek bottoms near Wyarno – but it's no slouch on scenery!
  
• 50 Mile - Start Time: 8:30AM. The Mane Event 50-mile ride starts at Wyarno with climbs mid-way through the course resulting in a pleasantly downhill ride for the last 14 miles. 
  
• 80 Mile - Start Time: 7:30AM. Little brother to the 100-miler, the 80 is still a challenge! With plenty of gravel the 80-mile ride is an extension of the 50-mile.

Come explore what lurks in, on and around the water of Big Goose Creek. You'll turn over rocks and sweep nets through the water to find small insects, worms, crustaceans and more. You'll seine the stream for the fish you won't see at the end of your line. And you'll do what the experts do as you collect water quality samples. Join us, and learn how to keep our waterways healthy, so there's clean water for everybody including our mud, bugs and fish!

Ignite curiosity and exploration at Unplug with Discovery Sessions: A Bat Walk in the Park. Let's join Mason Lee of the University of Wyoming Biodiversity Institute as we learn about these essential, yet often misunderstood, animals in our night skies. As the sun sets over South Park, these flying mammals will take to the sky in search of insects. 

We'll use special equipment that translates bat calls into noises and images we can hear and see as the bats forage above our heads in search of a good meal. Join us as we stay up a little late to experience a world we can only visit with our friends from the Biodiversity Institute on this special bat walk in the park. This unique and educational event in Sheridan is a perfect activity for the whole family!

Ignite curiosity and exploration at Unplug with Discovery Sessions: Herons at Home, Part 2. Join us as we return to the rookery with Dr. Julie Rieder of Science Kids to see how the heron chicks are thriving in their treetop nursery in the sky! Last year, we saw lots of chicks that were just about ready to take flight. This year, we're visiting the rookery a month earlier to see how they're growing. 

Unplug with Discovery Sessions: Herons at Home, Part 2 is a perfect activity for the whole family, this event offers a unique opportunity to witness herons as they thrive. Aside from this awesome experience, you will also learn some beginning bird skills, and there's something for everyone to discover and appreciate! 

Dress for weather, bring binoculars if you have them. We will have some, too.

The Dead Swede

Don't miss your chance to be part of this epic gravel cycling event here at Sheridan and nearby towns! The Dead Swede offers cyclists of all levels the chance to test their spirit on some of the most challenging and scenic gravel roads in the region. Whether you're a seasoned racer, families seeking an outdoor challenge, or a casual cyclist, there's always something for everyone!

The Dead Swede offers 4 different courses:

• 20 Mile - this course is perfect for beginners, families, or for casual cyclists who want to get out on the gravel and experience the challenge for themselves. 
  
• 40 Mile - this course offers a challenging but beautiful ride through the foothills west of Sheridan, Wyoming. There are Aid Stations about every 10 miles.
  
• 60 Mile - the course offers plenty of gravel, hills, and the Bekton Hill Climb. Plenty of climbing awaits as you grind out the miles on this “tour of the Big Horn foothills''. There are Aid Stations about every 10 miles.
  
• 100 Mile - the course has big climbs, fast descents, and epic views. This course begins by heading south-east of Sheridan where you'll experience a variety of mixed-terrain, geological features, and stunning views of the Bighorn Mountains. There are 6 total Aid Stations.
