Fall Splendor Weekend

The days are getting shorter, the temperatures are getting cooler, and Gatlinburg East/Smoky Mountain KOA Holiday is putting on her finest colors as the leaves begin to change. Spend the days hiking the Smoky Mountain Trails right outside our back gate or take a scenic drive on the Foothills Parkway. You won't be disappointed with either! Back at the campground, we will have Campground Crafts, Bingo, and of course you don't want to miss our Pancake Breakfast on Sunday morning!

Bigfoot's Birthday Party!

Happy Birthday, Bigfoot! Be our guest at Gatlinburg East/Smoky Mountain KOA Holiday and help us celebrate one of the Smoky Mountain's most legendary citizens. We'll have an Ice Cream Social (to go with our cake), a nature scavenger hunt and more. On Saturday, we have LIVE Music with Billy Boucher's Bluegrass Band! You might also want to check out the large Bigfoot Conference being held this weekend in Gatlinburg - it's one of the largest in the US! We'll also have bingo, an outdoor movie at the pool on Saturday night and a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday.

Firefly Weekend
Starts: 05/30/2025 - Ends: 06/01/2025
There's an amazing phenomenon in the Smoky Mountains each year: Synchronous Fireflies. This annual display of light illuminates the mountains with an incredible amount of tiny pulsing lights as thousands of fireflies synchronize their flashes. Join us to celebrate one of the rare species in the world known to synchronize their flashing patterns! We'll have fun education on fireflies, campground crafts and an Ice Cream Social on Saturday. Bring your fairy lights, firefly laser lights and firefly lanterns to help us transform the campground Saturday night into a mesmerizing display that our firefly friends would envy. We'll have a prize for the best display. Then join us on Sunday for a Pancake Breakfast.
Interested in watching the Synchronous Fireflies? The exact timing of the phenomenon does vary each year, and the National Park has limited admission for the evenings. Learn more & register for the admission lottery on the National Park Service Website.

Football Weekend

Come experience fall football KOA Style at the Gatlinburg East/Smoky Mountain KOA Holiday. Care Camps Big Weekend & Mother's Day Weekend

Your stay will make a difference in the lives of children with cancer, by helping raise funds for medically supervised Care Camps across North America. These camps give kids with cancer a chance to attend a summer camp and just be a kid again. Kentucky Derby Weekend

Known as “the most exciting two minutes in sports,” the Kentucky Derby horse race is so much more than 120 seconds. The Run for the Roses® is surrounded by longstanding, festive traditions–from donning colorful hats, to sipping Mint Juleps and, of course, wine. It's the ultimate excuse for throwing a party at Gatlinburg East/Smoky Mountain KOA Holiday! We will of course watch the race, but we will also have a best hat contest and with great prizes! Get your picture taken with our black bear mascot, participate in our version of the pony race and take time out for everyone's favorite Root Beer Float this weekend. Then enjoy a special Pancake Breakfast benefiting Care Camps on Sunday!

Cardboard Regatta Weekend
Starts: 06/06/2025 - Ends: 06/08/2025
Build your own cardboard boat and join the fun or be a spectator. Either way, you'll want to spend this weekend at Gatlinburg East/Smoky Mountain KOA Holiday! All boats must ONLY be built using corrugated cardboard, garbage bags, duct tape and paint. Paddles/Oars must be of the same materials. This race will test the engineering, ingenuity, determination and artistry of our participants! Cherished prizes will be awarded in multiple categories. We will also have a noodle boat craft and race for the kids, root beer floats and a 50/50 raffle benefiting Care Camps. Then join us for our Pancake Breakfast on Sunday.

Pick up your Letter to Santa Kit in the General Store. This wish list for Santa is a fun Christmas tradition that not only kids, but also other family members can fill out. Once finished, drop it in our special Express To Santa Mail Box. Be sure to put the correct return address so that Santa can write back! You can also check out the wishes on your children's and loved one's list. Just pop by the front desk and request the letter.
Your loved one will receive a personalized letter from the desk of Santa Claus, and an official North Pole nice list certificate, in a bright red envelope via Special Delivery.
