Watch the annual Buffalo Roundup at Custer State Park, an all-day event where participants can watch cowboys and cowgirls round up and herd approximately 1,300 buffalo. This spectacle is sure to impress, and provides insight into one of the critical management tools for maintaining a strong and healthy heard. Stick around to see 150 local vendors with south Dakota-made fine arts and crafts for sale.

Bring your festive attire to celebrate Hill City's hometown Star Spangled Parade down Main Street at 10am on July 4th. Enjoy breakfast and lunch at Hill City Center and at any of the fantastic restaurants. Then head for a free old-fashioned Ice Cream and Pie Social at the Hill City Visitor Information Center with a performance of the Shrine of Democracy Chorus followed by the Carson Brown Band.
The festivities don't end with July 4th, because July 5th is “Experience Hill City Day!” A two-day Star Spangled Craft Fair will be held Sat.-Sun.
