Watch the annual Buffalo Roundup at Custer State Park, an all-day event where participants can watch cowboys and cowgirls round up and herd approximately 1,300 buffalo. This spectacle is sure to impress, and provides insight into one of the critical management tools for maintaining a strong and healthy heard. Stick around to see 150 local vendors with south Dakota-made fine arts and crafts for sale.

Lace up your Hiking Boots for the chance to see Crazy Horse eye to eye! The Crazy Horse Volksmarch is the most popular organized hike in the United States. This biannual 6.2-mile hike takes place on June 7th and September 28th, offering visitors a unique way to experience the world's largest mountain carving in progress, which is typically only available through the special Face-to-Face Tour. Each Volksmarch trail is different, providing a new perspective for first-timers and returning hikers alike. Catch the panoramic views from the top of Crazy Horse's arm and stand next to the world's largest thumbnail. This is an experience you won't forget!
Get an early start to the trails to avoid heavier trail traffic as the morning progresses.
Registration is open 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and hikers need to be off the trail by 4pm.
The event starts at 8 a.m. for all ages of hikers with a $4 hike fee per person. (Regular Crazy Horse Memorial admission can be waved by donating three cans of food.)
