4th of July Fireworks Blast - Patriots Point

Celebrate the USA at the most patriotic spot in South Carolina! Patriots Point is hosting a July 4th celebration, featuring food trucks, fireworks, and live music. From 6-10 p.m., guests are invited to a land side party. This will include live music, access to more than a dozen food trucks, and a fireworks show after sundown. This event does not require tickets. Parking for the day will be $20 per vehicle.

MOJA Arts Festival

The MOJA Arts Festival is a multi-disciplinary festival produced annually and directed by the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the MOJA Planning Committee, an all-volunteer community arts and cultural group. Additional assistance and guidance are provided by the less formal networks of the MOJA Advisory Board, a group of civic leaders who assist with fundraising and advocacy, and the Friends of MOJA patron circle, representing individual and corporate donors. Moja, a Swahili word meaning “One,” is the appropriate name for this festival celebration of harmony among all people in our community. The Festival highlights the many African-American and Caribbean contributions to Western and world cultures. MOJA's wide range of events includes visual arts, classical music, dance, gospel, jazz, poetry, R&B music, storytelling, theatre, children's activities, traditional crafts, local foodways, and much, much more. In addition to its myriad arts presentations, MOJA also includes an active and busy educational outreach component of workshops in the public schools and senior outreach in community centers.

Christmas Light Parade

Brilliantly lit floats and community groups will march up West Coleman Boulevard as the Mount Pleasant Christmas Light Parade sets sail to the delight of thousands of residents and visitors. The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with a spectacular fireworks show, immediately followed by the start of the parade at Live Oak Dr., traveling south and ending at the intersection of W. Coleman Blvd. and Patriots Point Rd.

Sweetgrass Festival

The annual Sweetgrass Festival in Mount Pleasant, founded in 2004, is designed to promote and bring attention to the contributions of the Gullah Geechee people's history, culture, traditions and their sweetgrass basket art form that originated in Mount Pleasant and continues to exist in our town and surrounding communities today. Additionally, the Sweetgrass Festival provides an opportunity for engagement, interaction, and exposure to the Gullah Geechee people's culture. Informative and interesting educational sessions will enlighten and entertain participants of all ages. Offering free admission, entertainment, and activities, the Sweetgrass Festival also provides an opportunity for local basket makers to showcase, promote, and market their sweetgrass merchandise to locals as well as cultural tourists from around the country.
